Through our recent Erasmus+ project, Generaciones Saludables España brought together 40 young people from across Europe (Bulgaria, Czechia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey) to address the rising issue of technology addiction between 27.07.2024 and 02.08.2024 in Gijón. Focused on building balanced digital habits, the project included workshops, interactive activities, and family engagement strategies, all aiming to foster conscious tech use.
Key Highlights of the Project
Developing Healthy Tech Habits: Participants learned practical ways to manage screen time, keep digital balance diaries, and explore the positive impact of real-world connections. Weekly social and outdoor activities encouraged them to embrace offline experiences, helping many discover the benefits of life beyond screens.
Building Media Literacy: Through engaging workshops, young people gained tools to identify misleading content and approach media critically, making them more aware of the influence of digital media on mental well-being.
Community Engagement: By participating in community service projects, participants saw firsthand how they could contribute to their surroundings. This hands-on experience reinforced the importance of meaningful, real-world connections.
Positive Impact on Mental Health: Reduced screen time, combined with increased social engagement, helped participants feel more connected, less stressed, and inspired to maintain these balanced habits post-project.
We’re thrilled to see these young participants leaving with new skills to control their digital habits and a refreshed perspective on technology use. As we look forward, we aim to keep sparking awareness around technology addiction and promote healthier, more mindful digital habits within our communities.
