The Erasmus+ Mobility of Youth Workers project "Don't Get Caught in The Cycle of Addiction!" (Project No. 2023-3-ES02-KA153-YOU-000179486), coordinated by Generaciones Saludables España, officially began in Gijón, Spain, bringing together youth workers from Spain, Türkiye, Latvia, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Portugal, and Hungary. The project aims to raise awareness of technology addiction, promote the exchange of good practices, and equip youth workers with innovative methods to encourage healthier and more balanced digital habits among young people.
The first day focused on building strong connections among participants through interactive ice-breaking activities. During the "Dating Game", participants engaged in game-based learning, discovering each other's backgrounds, cultures, and interests while developing communication skills and creating a collaborative learning environment.
The programme continued with a readiness assessment, allowing participants to evaluate their knowledge, expectations, and awareness regarding technology addiction before the learning process began. Orientation activities also introduced participants to the project environment and ensured they were prepared for a productive and safe mobility experience.
In the afternoon, participants attended informative sessions on the Erasmus+ Programme and Youthpass, where they explored the programme's opportunities, priorities, and the key competencies promoted through Youthpass. Interactive group activities and discussions enabled participants to reinforce their knowledge while actively exchanging ideas and experiences.
To conclude the day, participants collaboratively established the working rules that would guide the project throughout the week, encouraging mutual respect, teamwork, and inclusive participation. The day ended with a reflection and evaluation session, where participants assessed the activities, shared feedback, and identified opportunities for improvement, laying a strong foundation for an impactful week dedicated to tackling technology addiction through international cooperation.
