United Colors for an Inclusive Future (Reference No: 2025-1-ES02-KA152-YOU-000297490) was an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project hosted by Generaciones Saludables España in Gijón, Spain. Bringing together young people from Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Türkiye, Georgia, and Hungary, the project aimed to promote social inclusion, equal opportunities, and greater awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities. Throughout the mobility, participants engaged in non-formal education activities, intercultural learning experiences, and awareness-raising initiatives that contributed to both their personal and social development.

During the project, participants explored disability-related issues through workshops, group discussions, experience-sharing sessions, and interactive activities. Inspirational success stories and direct engagement with disability-related topics encouraged young people to challenge stereotypes, develop empathy, and better understand the importance of accessibility and equal participation in society. Through practical exercises and awareness campaigns, participants experienced the barriers that many people with disabilities encounter in their daily lives and reflected on ways to create more inclusive communities.

The project also placed a strong emphasis on active citizenship and community engagement. Participants organized dissemination activities and awareness-raising actions involving local people, helping to spread messages about inclusion, accessibility, and the rights of people with disabilities. These initiatives not only increased public awareness but also strengthened participants’ sense of social responsibility and their commitment to promoting positive change in their own communities after returning home.

Intercultural learning played a key role throughout the exchange. Cultural nights, collaborative activities, and informal interactions allowed participants to discover the traditions, values, and lifestyles of different countries while building meaningful international friendships. These experiences fostered mutual understanding, respect for diversity, and a stronger sense of European solidarity among the young participants.

At the end of the project, participants reflected on their learning journey through evaluation sessions and the Youthpass process, identifying the competences and skills they had developed throughout the exchange. As a result, they left the project with increased awareness, stronger intercultural and social competences, and a deeper commitment to building a more inclusive, accessible, and equitable future for everyone.
