Healthy Youth in All Aspects (Project No: 2023-3-ES02-KA152-YOU-000178532) was a Youth Exchange project coordinated by Generaciones Saludables España and implemented in Gijón, Spain, between 4 August 2024 and 10 August 2024. The project brought together young participants from Spain, Latvia, Belgium, Turkey, Romania, and Hungary, creating an international learning environment where young people explored healthy lifestyles, intercultural cooperation, and personal development through a wide range of non-formal education activities.
The project aimed to promote a holistic understanding of health by combining physical activity, mental well-being, healthy nutrition, environmental awareness, and active participation. Through interactive workshops, outdoor experiences, collaborative learning, and practical exercises, participants developed healthier habits while gaining the knowledge needed to make informed lifestyle choices. Rather than relying on traditional classroom teaching, the project encouraged learning through experience, teamwork, and active engagement.
Intercultural learning was one of the project's strongest outcomes. Participants exchanged ideas, traditions, and everyday practices from their home countries while working together in multicultural teams. Cultural presentations, discussions, and collaborative activities fostered mutual respect, tolerance, and appreciation of diversity. These experiences strengthened communication skills, encouraged empathy, and demonstrated how cultural differences can become valuable learning opportunities instead of barriers.
The project also contributed significantly to participants' personal and professional development. Throughout the activities, young people improved essential competences such as leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, digital skills, and public speaking. Reflection sessions and continuous evaluation encouraged participants to recognise their own progress, identify newly acquired competences, and better understand the value of lifelong learning. Learning about the Erasmus+ Programme and the Youthpass certificate further increased their awareness of international mobility opportunities and the recognition of non-formal learning.
By the end of the exchange, participants had gained not only practical knowledge about maintaining a healthy lifestyle but also greater self-confidence, intercultural competence, and a stronger sense of European citizenship. The friendships established during the project and the experiences shared throughout the week inspired participants to become ambassadors of healthy living, inclusion, and active participation within their own communities. The project demonstrated that health, cooperation, and cultural diversity together create a powerful foundation for personal growth and positive social impact.
